 Yttrium Fluoride Description

Yttrium Fluoride of yttrium are yttrium oxide and yttrium hydroxide, respectively, and they are both white solids which are hardly soluble in water. Among them, yttrium oxide can be prepared by heating yttrium carbonate or yttrium oxalate. Alternatively, the oxychloride can be heated in air to yield the oxide.

Yttrium Fluoride can be precipitated by the reaction of soluble yttrium compounds with sodium hydroxide or ammonia, and can also be obtained by the hydrolysis of yttrium alkoxide. Hydroxy acids and sugars present in the solution will prevent the formation of precipitates due to the formation of stable coordination compounds.

Yttrium Fluoride can be decomposed by heating. Firstly, basic yttrium oxide is formed, and when heating is continued yttrium oxide is obtained. Both yttrium oxide and Yttrium Fluoride are easily soluble in strong acids to form corresponding yttrium salts.

Zensor screen printed electrodes (SPEs) feature a carbon working electrode (central circle), carbon auxiliary (outer annular crescent), and Ag/AgCl pellet reference electrode. They can be used as low-cost disposable electrodes in aqueous solutions of moderate pH. Disposable SPEs can be used as an alternative to expensive glassy carbon or platinum electrodes for teaching experiments, or routine analyses, where a clean reproducible surface would otherwise require time-consuming electrode polishing.

Relatively large tabs at the top of the SPE enable electrical contact with standard miniature alligator clips (no special cables required).

If using solutions that contain species that might react with the Ag/AgCl pellet reference (sulfide, iodide, cyanide, ammonia, etc.) then the Zensor SE100 SPE working electrode is recommended using a conventional reference and auxiliary electrodes, with an intervening salt bridge in cases of serious interference.

Not suitable for use with organic solvents, or concentrated acidic or basic aqueous solutions.

Physical Properties of Zinc Oxide Micro Powder

Zinc sulfide Powder is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula of ZnS. This is the main form of zinc found in nature, where it mainly occurs as the mineral sphalerite. Although this mineral is usually black because of various impurities, the pure material is white, and it is widely used as a pigment. In its dense synthetic form, zinc sulfide can be transparent, and it is used as a window for visible optics and infrared optics.

Both sphalerite and wurtzite are intrinsic, wide-bandgap semiconductors. These are prototypical semiconductors, and they adopt structures related to many of the other semiconductors, such as gallium arsenide. The cubic form of ZnS has a bandgap of about electron volts at 300 kelvins, but the hexagonal form has a bandgap of about electron volts.

ZnS can be doped as either an n-type semiconductor or a p-type semiconductor. Fine ZnS powder is an efficient photocatalyst, which produces hydrogen gas from water upon illumination. Sulfur vacancies can be introduced in ZnS during its synthesis; this gradually turns the white-yellowish ZnS into a brown powder, and boosts the photocatalytic activity through enhanced light absorption Zinc sulfidic, with the addition of few ppm of suitable activator, exhibits strong phosphorescence, and is currently used in many applications, from cathode ray tubes through X-ray screens to glow in the dark products. When silver is used as an activator, the resulting color is bright blue, with a maximum at 450 nanometres.

Using manganese yields an orange-red color at around 590 nanometres. Copper gives a long-time glow, and it has the familiar greenish glow-in-the-dark. Copper-doped zinc sulfidic is used also in electroluminescent panels. It also exhibits phosphorescence due to impurities on illumination with blue or ultraviolet light.

Zirconium Diboride Nano Powder Description

Zirconium diboride Nano Powder (ZrB2) is a highly covalent refractory ceramic material with a hexagonal crystal structure. ZrB2 is an ultra-high temperature ceramic with a melting point of 3246 °C. This along with its relatively low density of ~6.09 g/cm3 (measured density may be higher due to hafnium impurities) and good high-temperature strength makes it a candidate for high-temperature aerospace applications such as hypersonic flight or rocket propulsion systems.

It is an unusual ceramic, having relatively high thermal and electrical conductivities, properties it shares with isostructural titanium diboride and hafnium diboride. ZrB2 parts are usually hot pressed (pressure applied to the heated powder) and then machined to shape.

Sintering of ZrB2 is hindered by the material's covalent nature and presence of surface oxides which increase grain coarsening before densification during sintering. Pressureless sintering of ZrB2 is possible with sintering additives such as boron carbide and carbon which react with the surface oxides to increase the driving force for sintering but mechanical properties are degraded compared to hot-pressed he extremely rapid heating rates can result in incomplete reactions between Zr and B, the formation of stable oxides of Zr, and the retention of porosity.

Stoichiometric reactions have also been carried out by reaction of attrition milled wearing materials by grinding Zr and B powder and then hot pressing at 600 °C for 6 h, and nanoscale particles have been obtained by reacting attrition milled Zr and B precursor crystallites 10 nm in size.

The reduction of ZrO2 and HfO2 to their respective diborides can also be achieved via metallothermic reduction. Inexpensive precursor materials are used and reacted according to the reaction.

Stefanic et al. have study the influence of processing parameters (pH value, type of anion, and reaction temperature) on the properties of hydrous zirconia. They mix zirconium n-isopropoxide in isopropanol with aqueous solutions of different pH values and ion types. After that, they calcined the sample at 400°C. They obtain tetragonal zirconia as the dominant phase after calcination.

Stocker & Baiker have prepared zirconia aerogel by sol-gel method using tetra-n-butoxy zirconium (IV) and acid catalysis. They vary the acid to alkoxide ratio and types of alcoholic solvent in the reaction. They found out that zirconia aerogel prepared with an acid-to-alkoxide ratio of 0.95 and butanol have the largest BET surface area (205 m2g-1).

Beena et al. synthesized nanocrystalline zirconia using sol-gel and precipitation techniques. For sol-gel synthesis, they dilute zirconium propoxide to 30wt% by adding propanol and then hydrolyze with dropwise ammonia solution under continuous stirring until pH 10-10.5. For precipitation synthesis, they dissolved zirconium oxychloride in distilled water and then hydrolyzed with dropwise ammonia solution under continuous stirring until pH 10-10.5. The precipitates are then filtered and washed with distilled water to remove chlorine ions. Both sol-gel and precipitate samples are dried in an oven as well as under vacuum in rotavapor before calcined at different temperatures (400-700°C).
